InboundInbound travel to Japan was flat: gross bookings at HIS and five group travel companies were ¥12.09bn over the nine months against ¥12.10bn a year earlier (floortok sum of quarterly figures). The company says North American and European demand was strong while the China market stalled and flights were cut.
JapanOverseas travel sold in Japan grew 6.7% to ¥216.1bn in gross bookings (floortok sum of quarterly figures), but that was 93.6% of its initial plan; the company puts Middle East-related cancellations at about ¥5bn in Q2 and ¥9bn in Q3. Domestic travel bookings slipped 0.2% to ¥41.2bn.
StoresKyushu Sanko, its bus, food-and-retail and property arm in Kumamoto, whose property business includes the Sakura Machi Kumamoto complex, grew revenue 6.4% to ¥20.1bn and operating profit 18.3% to ¥0.73bn; the company cites the economic effect of TSMC's arrival and tourism demand.
