BEAMS BOY dresses Licca-chan for its 50th-anniversary capsule
BEAMS BOY, part of Japan's BEAMS group, is pairing its own 50th-anniversary push with Licca-chan, the doll that turns 60 next year, with a Harajuku launch event on November 6.

BEAMS BOY, a label of Japan's BEAMS group, releases a ¥19,800 collaboration doll with Licca-chan, the Takara Tomy fashion doll, on November 6, as part of its parent group's 50th-anniversary programme, the company said.
The 'BEAMS BOY Licca-chan' comes dressed in a scaled-down version of the label's American-casual house look -- a blazer, a football T-shirt, a border basque shirt, a BOY-logo cap, plus a silver ball necklace and earrings -- with additional Licca-sized miniature pieces made in cooperation with outdoor and workwear brands SIERRA DESIGNS, GREGORY, orSlow and Clarks Originals. Preorders are open through the BEAMS website now, and from release day it goes on sale at BEAMS BOY stores nationwide, the BEAMS online shop, BEAMS News and BEAMS Japan, according to the company.
BEAMS BOY is marking the release with an event at its Harajuku store on November 6 from 7pm to 9pm, closing the shop from 6pm to prepare. Attendees get a limited postcard, and buyers of the collaboration get a tote bag and stickers while stocks last, alongside a Licca-package-style photo spot and catering from Tokyo Sandwich Club. Takara Tomy Arts is also selling a related five-design capsule-toy line at ¥400 a pull, previewed at the Harajuku event and two more BEAMS stores before going into gachapon machines nationwide in December.
Licca-chan, launched by Takara Tomy in 1967, turns 60 next year. For BEAMS, now marking its own half-century, it is another character collaboration built around a single Harajuku store and its launch-day event.
