Cross Hotel Osaka adds a 24-hour Gold's Gym-branded 'boutique' gym

A 24-hour, unmanned gym will open on the fifth floor of Cross Hotel Osaka on 1 August, operator U-PROJECT Corporation said in a release, run in partnership with THINK Fitness, which operates Gold's Gym in Japan, and the hotel's operator, Orix Hotels and Resorts.

The facility, branded Muscle Gate Hotel Gym Boutique Powered by Gold's Gym, sits inside the hotel in Osaka's Shinsaibashi district, according to the release, and carries professional weight-training machines, free weights, cable machines and cardio equipment, alongside a full set of official HYROX competition machines for the functional-fitness race format, a sandbag training area and a meditation space. U-PROJECT describes the design as combining greenery and ambient lighting with the training floor, aiming, in the release's own description, for the feeling of training amid nature despite being in the middle of the city.

Access is layered, per the release: hotel guests can use the gym as part of their stay, outside visitors can buy hourly or time-based passes, and full members get reciprocal access to THINK Fitness's Gold's Gym Shinsaibashi Osaka location. U-PROJECT frames the venture as a response to rising health-consciousness among travellers and a gap it sees in most hotels' fitness offerings, which it says are typically limited to a small room of basic cardio machines.

This is a Product bet dressed as an amenity. Rather than the usual hotel-gym afterthought, U-PROJECT and THINK Fitness are building a full-specification, competition-grade facility and monetising it three ways at once: guest amenity, walk-in membership and cross-access to an existing gym network. If it works, the fitness floor becomes a reason to choose Cross Hotel Osaka over a comparable Shinsaibashi property, not just something to use once already there.
