Daimaru Fukuoka brings the 50th-anniversary Tetsuko's Room exhibition to Kyushu for the first time
Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin will host the touring 50th-anniversary exhibition for Tetsuko's Room, Japan's long-running talk show, marking its first stop in Kyushu -- the kind of ticketed nostalgia-IP programming department stores lean on to fill upper-floor event space between fashion seasons.

Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores said the touring exhibition "Tetsuko's Room 50th Anniversary Exhibition -- With Love" (徹子の部屋 50周年展〜愛をこめて〜) will run at Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin's main-building eighth-floor exhibition hall from November 19 to December 13 -- its first showing in Kyushu, according to the company. Tetsuko's Room (徹子の部屋), hosted by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi since 1976, marked its own 50th anniversary this past February.
Advance tickets cost ¥1,600 for adults and ¥800 for middle and high school students; day-of tickets rise to ¥1,800 and ¥1,000 respectively, with elementary-age children and younger admitted free, Daimaru said. Doors open 10:00 to 18:00 (last entry 17:30), shortening to a 17:00 close on the final day. The exhibition, built around the concept "with love" (愛を込めて), displays past and current studio sets, guest-specific flower arrangements and a wall of memorable quotes drawn from roughly 12,800 guests across five decades on air.
Exhibition-only goods include a ¥2,970 tin from confectioner Aoyama Decarbo, styled as a 360-degree miniature of the show's studio set and holding tea cookies and a panda-shaped charm, and a ¥1,300 rose financier assortment from Patisserie Monsieur, both limited. Weekday visitors also get a free original sticker while supplies last, one per person.
Kyushu is a notable gap to still be filling this late in a touring exhibition's run, and it says something about where department stores now place their biggest bets for footfall: an eighth-floor hall dedicated for a month to a 50-year-old talk show, timed and ticketed like a museum show, rather than a seasonal fashion event. For Daimaru Fukuoka, a Kyushu-first booking of an exhibition already proven elsewhere is the lower-risk way to test that pull locally.
