Dining Innovation opens a Sri Lankan curry shop in Jiyugaoka, its latest bet on a well-worn storefront

Dining Innovation, the group behind Yakiniku Like and VANSAN, has opened an 18-seat Sri Lankan rose-curry restaurant in Jiyugaoka, one more small domestic concept from an operator that keeps testing new formats at home.

Dining Innovation, the Tokyo-based restaurant group behind Yakiniku Like and VANSAN, opened an 18-seat Sri Lankan "rose curry" restaurant called CEYLON HOUSE at 1-5-9 Jiyugaoka, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, this month, according to a listing on the company's own newsroom.

The listing gives no further detail on the menu or pricing. The company has been filling its newsroom with small domestic openings across several concepts, including its Chipao Maratan brand, which suggests CEYLON HOUSE is one more format being tried out in the home market.

An 18-seat opening is a small event. For a group that also sells Japanese dining formats abroad, a steady stream of small domestic concepts is where it can find out cheaply which ideas are worth exporting next.
