Hankyu Hanshin Real Estate will begin demolishing the former Senri Hankyu Hotel on 3 August, the company said. The hotel opened on 1 March 1970 and closed on 30 March 2026 after 56 years in operation; the company expects the demolition to take about a year and a half.
The company said it will prioritise consideration for the surrounding neighbourhood as the work proceeds, and acknowledged the demolition may cause some disruption nearby.
What the release does not say is what replaces the hotel. Hankyu Hanshin Real Estate's announcement covers only the demolition itself — there is no mention of a future building, use or timeline for the site beyond the roughly 18-month teardown.
