Hoshino Resorts opens its first Fukuoka property, betting on the Kanmon Strait view
Hoshino Resorts has opened its first hotel in Fukuoka Prefecture, a 119-room strait-view property in the retro port district of Mojiko — the youth-oriented BEB brand's bet that a shared 24-hour lounge and a private sauna terrace do more for a stay than a bigger room.

Hoshino Resorts opened BEB5 Mojiko on 24 July, the company said in a release, marking its first hotel in Fukuoka Prefecture. The 119-room property sits in Kitakyushu's Mojiko Retro district, a four-minute walk from JR Mojiko Station, with every room facing the Kanmon Strait.
Room rates start from ¥6,600 per person a night for two sharing (tax included, meals not), positioning BEB5 Mojiko toward the value end of Hoshino's portfolio. BEB, the group's youth-oriented sub-brand, builds its pitch around shared space rather than the room itself: a 24-hour lounge called TAMARIBA runs a café and shop and lets guests bring in outside food and drink, opening onto a rooftop terrace, MIZUBA, with panoramic strait views. A semi-outdoor infinity bath occupies the top floor, and one premium room comes with a private dry sauna, self-controlled steam (“löyly”) and a terrace cold-plunge bath.
The hotel also runs a buffet restaurant built around customisable noodle dishes, a sunset event featuring a sabre-opened bottle of champagne, and a themed night lounge nodding to the Taisho-era (1912–1926) character of the Mojiko Retro district; guest rooms use a blue palette accented with Kokura-ori, a textile woven locally.
The lean toward shared, photographable spaces over room size is the Presentation bet BEB has run at its other properties, and it fits a broader shift in Japan's domestic hospitality: capacity is growing not through five-star flagship builds but through mid-tier, design-led brands aimed at younger travellers who split a stay between a lounge and a room. Fukuoka Prefecture, and Kitakyushu's faded port heritage in particular, is a new market for the group — the read here is less about one hotel than about which city gets the BEB treatment next.
