Isetan Shinjuku's 14th Salon de Parfum gathers 47 brands, ahead of a planned permanent fragrance floor

Isetan Shinjuku's 14th annual Salon de Parfum brings 47 brands and more than 1,000 scents to its sixth floor for five days, but the bigger signal is Isetan Mitsukoshi's plan to turn part of the store's cosmetics floor into a permanent fragrance space from next summer.

Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings said Isetan Shinjuku will run the 14th edition of its Salon de Parfum fragrance fair, bringing 47 brands and more than 1,000 scents to the main building's sixth-floor event space from October 8 to 12, with a preview day on October 7 for M.I. Card holders, according to a release dated September 29.

The fair is themed "Cinema of Scents" this year and includes an "edited zone" curating more than 100 fragrances across six brands without regard to brand boundaries, staffed by fragrance-certified consultants offering personalised advice, Isetan Mitsukoshi said. A trend section highlights what the company calls "neo-gourmand" fragrances, including a limited-edition scent built around popcorn. Related selling space also runs on the main building's first floor and in the Men's Building's first floor from October 7 to 13. Isetan Mitsukoshi said it plans to turn the store's first- and second-floor cosmetics floors into a permanent "Fragrance Museum" from summer 2027.

Forty-seven brands and more than 1,000 items is a large commitment of sixth-floor event space to a single category for five days, but the stated plan to convert part of the cosmetics floor into a permanent fragrance space next summer matters more than the fair itself: it would move niche and artisanal fragrance from an annual pop-up into fixed floor space, the clearest signal yet that Isetan rates scent as a standing growth category for its beauty halls rather than a seasonal draw.
