All six JR Group retail arms launch one shared train-merchandise line, in kiosks nationwide
For the first time, the station-retail arms of all six JR Group companies are selling the same train-themed merchandise line at once — kiosks and shops from Hokkaido to Kyushu carrying stickers and goods built around 18 train models, three from each operator — a coordinated push into the highest-footfall retail real estate in the country.

The station-retail subsidiaries of all six JR Group companies — JR Hokkaido's Fresh Kiosk, JR East Cross Station, JR Central's Retailing Plus, JR West's Daily Service Net, Shikoku Kiosk and JR Kyushu Retail — began selling a shared train-themed merchandise line in kiosks and shops nationwide from October 6, according to a release from JR East Cross Station dated October 1.
The line runs to two product families: ¥550 "BONBON DROP" stickers, and a wider "JR GROUP TRAIN SERIES" of keychains, magnets, muffler towels and clear files — including, for example, sticker-embedded wafer snacks at ¥250 each (or ¥7,500 boxed) and acrylic keyholders at ¥660 each (or ¥7,920 boxed). Between the two lines, 18 train models are depicted, three selected by each of the six companies, spanning the network from Hokkaido to Kyushu.
Coordinating six separately run retail subsidiaries around one shared product calendar is the real story here: JR's station kiosks and shops are some of the highest-footfall retail real estate in the country, and a single nationwide campaign lets each regional operator sell into a train-enthusiast audience far bigger than its own territory could reach alone.
Whether this becomes a recurring joint calendar rather than a one-off is the thing worth watching — it is a cheap way for six fairly small retail arms to act, for one campaign, like a single national chain.
