Transit brings its Minami-Aoyama bistro L'AS to Tokyo Station's new TOFROM YAESU tower
L'AS is a Transit Group original, not an import — and its move to a new Tokyo Station tower comes with a standalone tart brand built for daytime footfall.
Transit General Office said reservations opened on 6 August for L'AS TOKYO, the third location of its modern French restaurant L'AS, which will open inside the new TOFROM YAESU tower on 10 September.
L'AS is a Transit original that has operated in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo; the Yaesu location, at 1-6-1 Yaesu, Chuo Ward, is its first inside the Tokyo Station area. Alongside the restaurant, Transit is launching a companion brand, Tarte & Table by L'AS, which sells the restaurant's tarts as a standalone dessert line, both plated within its courses and à la carte.
The restaurant will run lunch from 11:30am to 2:30pm, a café slot from 2:30pm to 5:30pm, and dinner from 5:30pm to 10:30pm, with a weekday-only short lunch course from ¥3,800, a full lunch course from ¥5,500, a dinner course from ¥6,400, and tarts from the café counter starting at ¥1,280, according to the reservation page.
The dual-brand structure is the more interesting move. A single dinner-led restaurant inside an office tower leaves the lunch and afternoon hours to fend for themselves; splitting off a standalone tart brand gives L'AS a reason for daytime footfall from the tower's office workers well before the dinner crowd arrives, without diluting the main restaurant's identity.
