Mitsui Fudosan adds a 220-room riverfront tower hotel to central Osaka

Mitsui Fudosan and its hotel-management arm will open a 220-room hotel on the Dojima river in central Osaka in February 2027, the developer said on Wednesday, with reservations opening the same day.

The Mitsui Garden Hotel Osaka Dojimahama Premier will occupy floors 25 to 31 of a 40-storey tower at 2-1-9 Dojimahama in Kita Ward, according to Mitsui Fudosan. It opens on 26 February 2027. Shimizu Corporation designed and built the building, and Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management will operate the hotel.

The property spans nine room categories averaging about 30 square metres, the company said, with some rooms adding a balcony, a view bath or a day bed that sleeps up to three.

Food and drink is contracted out rather than run in-house: restaurant operator Zeton will run BABEL, a steak-and-grill concept, alongside a wine bar stocked with its own retail shop and Tannoy Westminster speakers. A 25th-floor terrace overlooks the river, and guests get a lounge with complimentary drinks, a fitness room fitted with NOHRD equipment, and a laundry room.

A second Premier, renamed

Mitsui Fudosan is also renaming its existing Mitsui Garden Hotel Osaka Premier — on the opposite bank of the same river, in Nakanoshima — to Mitsui Garden Hotel Osaka Nakanoshima Premier, effective the same day the new hotel opens.

The rename is the more telling move. Two "Premier" hotels a short walk apart on the same river would have been indistinguishable to a booking site or a concierge; giving the older property its neighbourhood's name clears the way for Dojimahama to carry the address on its own. It also points to where Mitsui Fudosan sees Osaka's next wave of demand: not a new district, but a denser cluster of upscale rooms along water it already runs hotels on.
