Prada gives Hankyu Umeda a two-week pre-sale of pieces not yet sold anywhere else in Japan

Prada is giving Hankyu Umeda a two-week pre-sale of five pieces not yet available anywhere else in Japan, putting a single Osaka department-store floor ahead of the rest of the country.

Prada is running a store-exclusive pre-sale at Hankyu Umeda Main Store from Wednesday 7 October to Tuesday 20 October, Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores said in a release — a pop-up on the store's first floor, at the Kotokoto Stage 11 event space, offering items not yet available anywhere else in Japan.

Hankyu described the pop-up's look as largely black and minimal, built to foreground Prada's craftsmanship and pieces made to last. The store-exclusive items include a bag priced at ¥572,000, a Bonnie bag at ¥544,500, a leather bootie at ¥275,000, a Prada Wish pouch at ¥352,000 and loafers at ¥198,000, according to the release; a Prada Carry bag at ¥374,000, a second bag with an enamel triangle-logo zip pull at ¥473,000 and sunglasses at ¥60,500 are also on display but not store-exclusive. A window display at the store's first-floor concourse runs through 19 October.

A two-week pre-sale limited to one department-store floor is a small but pointed gesture: Hankyu Umeda gets first access to these pieces ahead of their wider Japan release, a head start brands often keep for their own flagships. For Hankyu, it is a draw for its luxury customers and a reason to visit the ground floor before the pieces reach other stores.

What to watch is whether these pieces stay Hankyu-exclusive for good or simply get a head start before a later, wider Japan rollout — the difference between a one-store perk and a genuine allocation strategy.
