Takashimaya Kyoto's week-long wine festival pairs 20-bottle releases with a taste-matching tool

A week-long wine festival on Kyoto Takashimaya's seventh floor pairs ultra-limited domestic bottlings and a newly opened Italian restaurant with a taste-matching tool that needs no app download — the kind of event-hall drawing card department stores are using to hold their own against specialist wine shops and online retailers.

Takashimaya will run "Wai! Wai! Wine! …and more" on the seventh-floor event hall of its Kyoto store from November 17 to 23, the company said, pairing a lineup of domestic and imported wines with an eat-in menu from OSTERIA LO STUZZICHINO, an Italian restaurant that opened in Joyo (城陽市), Kyoto Prefecture, in March.
