Tennoji Mio lines up five new stores this autumn, led by a nationwide-first cosmetics shop
Tennoji Mio, the JR-linked Osaka mall, is opening five new shops between late August and mid-September, including the first store anywhere in Japan for the Osaka skincare brand Tout Vert — the kind of tenant exclusivity station malls increasingly compete on.

Tennoji Mio, the shopping mall directly connected to JR Tennoji Station in Osaka, is opening five new stores this autumn, according to the new-shop listings on the mall's official site, operated by JR West Japan SC Development. The headline debut is Tout Vert, an Osaka-based skincare brand specialising in high-concentration beauty serums, which the mall's listing describes as the brand's first store anywhere in Japan; it opens 4 September on the second floor of the Plaza Building.
The other four span dining, shoes and accessories. Wanowa, an Asian dining and café concept blending Nepali, Indian, Thai and Vietnamese dishes, opens first, on 21 August on the Main Building's 11th floor. Pansy, a women's shoe shop, follows on 1 September on the Plaza Building's third floor. MUK, an accessories and lifestyle-goods shop that the listing flags as a first for the wider Tennoji/Abeno area, opens the same day as Tout Vert, 4 September, on the Main Building's fourth floor. Mushi Vegi Plus Cafe, a health-focused café built around steamed vegetables and herbal teas, closes out the run on 16 September on the Main Building's 11th floor, also billed as an area first.
None of the five is individually a large opening, but together they show how a station mall competes on the exclusivity of what it stocks rather than sheer floor space. Tennoji Mio sits in a crowded Osaka field of JR- and rail-operator malls chasing the same commuter and shopper traffic; landing a brand's first store in the country, or the first in its own district, is a cheaper way to draw a special trip than adding square footage would be — a tenanting lever that is, in retail terms, closer to product exclusivity than to store expansion.
