TRUNK(HOTEL)'s operator launches a second hotel brand, GENTLE, debuting in Kamakura

Take and Give Needs, the operator behind TRUNK(HOTEL), is launching a second hotel brand, GENTLE: a 16-room property in Kamakura opening in 2027 at an estimated ¥40,000 to ¥200,000 a night, built around wellness, dining and weddings.

Take and Give Needs Co. (T&G), the operator of TRUNK(HOTEL), announced a new hotel brand called GENTLE, with its first property, THE GENTLE KAMAKURA, set to soft-open in February 2027 and fully open in March 2027, according to a release dated September 30.

The 16-room property will sit in Koshigoe, Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, with nightly rates the company estimates at roughly ¥40,000 to ¥200,000. T&G said the hotel will offer Italian and sushi dining, a guest lounge with a library, a rooftop terrace, and banquet and event space, with activities such as sunset stand-up paddleboarding, trail running and yoga, plus destination-wedding packages. The architecture is by Sendai Gaku Architects, with interiors by DRAFT, sound design by Sound Couture and a bespoke fragrance by Olfactive Studio Ne. The brand concept, which T&G calls "Be Gentle," centres on four elements it describes as heightened emotion, discovery, embrace and spaciousness.

For T&G, best known for TRUNK(HOTEL), GENTLE is a second brand built on a different proposition: a small, resort-style property in a coastal town, with wellness, dining and weddings at the centre of the offer. The company's own price estimate, well above what Kamakura's typical stays command, is a bet that upscale domestic travellers will pay a premium for a distinct concept. The release gives month-level opening dates only, so the 2027 timetable is T&G's plan rather than a fixed date.
