Aeon Mall confirms its tenth Vietnam mall, opening in the Ha Long tourist gateway
Aeon Mall will open its tenth Vietnamese shopping centre on 14 November, in the UNESCO-listed bay city of Ha Long — pushing Japan's largest mall operator past the double digits in a market it has built out mall by mall for over a decade.
Aeon Co. and its shopping-centre subsidiary, Aeon Mall Co., said they will open Aeon Mall Ha Long on Saturday, 14 November 2026, according to a statement posted to Aeon's corporate newsroom. The centre will be the group's tenth shopping mall in Vietnam.
Ha Long is a port city on Vietnam's northern coast, in Quang Ninh province, known internationally as the gateway to Ha Long Bay, the UNESCO World Heritage site of limestone karsts that draws large numbers of visitors each year. Aeon's release did not disclose the new mall's floor area, tenant count or investment figure.
The opening extends a Vietnam pipeline that has moved beyond the country's two biggest cities. Aeon Mall's eighth Vietnamese centre, a compact urban-format mall built into a mixed-use tower, opened in Da Nang in July; Ha Long is a further step into a mid-sized city built primarily on tourism rather than a large resident catchment. For Japan's largest mall operator, exporting the suburban shopping-centre format to secondary Vietnamese cities is a bet that a rising middle class and steady tourist traffic can support the same anchor-tenant, one-stop model that built Aeon Mall's business at home — even where the local population alone might not.
