Aeon Mall's Tsudanuma South reaches full occupancy as a cinema replaces retail floors
Aeon Retail's Tsudanuma South mall in Chiba reaches full occupancy this summer as AEON Cinema opens on its seventh floor on 10 July, with an indoor Snoopy attraction to follow on the same floor later in the season — an eight-storey former station-side building backfilled with entertainment rather than more selling space.

Aeon Mall Tsudanuma South, an eight-storey building next to Tsudanuma Station in Chiba Prefecture, becomes fully occupied this summer as AEON Cinema opens on its seventh floor on 10 July, Aeon Retail said. The mall totals roughly 35,292 square metres of floor space, with about 20,100 square metres of tenant area and 536 parking spaces, according to the company.
Aeon Retail's own release says an indoor attraction it calls SNOOPY Playful PARK will open on the same seventh floor later this summer, without giving a specific date. The company also said the building will run a separate summer event, Tsudanuma Yajo (Tsudanuma Night Castle), from 17 July to 31 August, with performances, traditional festival games and a lottery offering up to ¥2,000 in Aeon gift cards.
The building's owner, Keisei Electric Railway, is the tell here: a station-side property that once anchored suburban shopping is being completed not with more retail floors but with a cinema and, soon, a licensed family attraction — the kind of answer Aeon can offer when land-use, not sales density, is the constraint. For a format built on drawing repeat local traffic rather than one-off visits, entertainment that gives a family a reason to return monthly does more for footfall than another apparel tenant would on a floor this size.
