Armani Ristorante Tokyo's regional tasting menu turns to Iwate for its third chapter

Armani Ristorante Tokyo, on the 10th and 11th floors of the Giorgio Armani Ginza Tower, will serve an Iwate-themed tasting menu from September 16 through December 6, priced at ¥19,000 or ¥29,000 before tax and service, Giorgio Armani Japan said in a statement.

The menu is the third instalment of "47 Roots," the restaurant's ongoing series pairing each of Japan's 47 prefectures with Italian technique, after chapters built around Ehime and Nagano. Executive chef Bruno Hiruma's Iwate courses draw on Sanriku-coast scallop and smoked potato, grilled saury, tankaku (short-horned) beef, guinea fowl mezzelune pasta and Iwate apples and wild grapes, according to the release.

A monthly-changing regional menu at a maison-branded restaurant is a slow-build promotion rather than a single event — it gives Armani's Tokyo restaurant a recurring reason to appear in food coverage across a multi-year run through all 47 prefectures, while tying the fashion house's dining arm to a domestic-tourism theme that resonates with Japanese diners even when the ingredients themselves rarely travel far from where they're grown.
