Atre Kichijoji adds two first-time tenants: Ginza Aster and Hakata Tenpura Yamaya
Atre is refreshing the dining floors at its Kichijoji station building with two tenants making their first-ever appearance in an Atre building: the century-old Chinese-deli chain Ginza Aster and Fukuoka's Hakata Tenpura Yamaya.
Atre Co., Ltd. will open two tenants at Atre Kichijoji this summer and autumn that are making their first appearance in any Atre building, the JR East group company said: a Ginza Aster prepared-foods counter and a Hakata Tenpura Yamaya restaurant.
Ginza Aster, a Chinese-cuisine specialist founded in 1926, opens a ready-to-eat deli counter on the main building's first floor on 27 August, according to the release. Hakata Tenpura Yamaya, known for Fukuoka-style tempura served with unlimited refills of mentaiko, pickled mustard greens and rice, follows on 10 September with a 25-seat restaurant in the basement, open 11:00 to 22:00.
The pairing fits a wider pattern at Japan's larger station buildings, where landlords use dining-floor churn to keep a commuter hub relevant rather than relying on fashion tenants alone — bringing in an established Ginza name and a well-known regional specialist gives Atre Kichijoji two draws with an existing following rather than an unproven newcomer. Atre Kichijoji currently houses 206 shops across roughly 12,000 square metres of store space, the company said.
