Breguet's Japan arm adds a platinum Classique Souscription, a year after the design won the industry's top prize

Swatch Group Japan's Breguet division has introduced a platinum-cased Classique Souscription with a new in-house movement, a year after the line's previous model won the Aiguille d'Or, the top prize at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve -- with no price yet stated, and sales steered to boutiques inside Isetan Shinjuku, Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi and Hankyu Umeda.

Swatch Group Japan K.K.'s Breguet division said it has added a platinum-cased model, reference 2026PT289W6, to its Classique Souscription line, according to the company's November 6 announcement. The watch is a new interpretation of the Classique Souscription that won the Aiguille d'Or -- the top prize at the 2025 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG), watchmaking's most closely watched awards -- arriving one year after that win, the company said.

The new model's case is platinum for the first time in the line, Breguet said, housing a newly developed in-house movement, caliber VS00. The caliber runs at 3Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) from a single barrel giving a four-day power reserve, uses a Nivachron non-magnetic alloy for its blue balance spring, and carries shot-blasted plates and bridges with blue steel screws and rubies. Its brass base plate carries a hand-engraved guilloche pattern the brand calls Cle de l'Horloge (ケ・ド・ロルロージュ, "key of the clock"), and the barrel is engraved with a reproduction of founder Abraham-Louis Breguet's handwriting, taken from an original advertising brochure, the company said. The dial is white grand feu enamel, with the Breguet signature, Arabic numerals and minute track rendered in blue petit feu enamel, and a slightly domed sapphire caseback shows the movement.

Breguet's release states no price or production quantity for the new model, and directs buyers to boutiques for details. It names four of its own boutiques as points of contact -- in Ginza, inside Isetan Shinjuku, inside Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi and inside Hankyu Umeda -- three of them department-store locations, underlining how much of Breguet's retail footprint in Japan still runs through department-store watch salons rather than standalone stores.

For a model the GPHG jury has already singled out once, a second interpretation a year on is a Product-side move rather than a pricing or channel one: Breguet is giving its department-store counters and its own boutique a fresh version of a watch with an awards story already attached, rather than opening a new location or adjusting where it sells. Whether, and at what price, it reaches Japanese counters is not addressed in this release.
