Aston Martin's Valhalla supercar heads to a Tokyo department store

Aston Martin Japan is showing three cars, including the Valhalla plug-in hybrid supercar, in the central hall of Nihombashi Mitsukoshi's landmark main building through 30 August, as part of the store's UK Exhibition 2026 programme — and, the company says, the car's first public Japan appearance outside a dealership or brand centre.

Aston Martin Japan is showing three cars — Valhalla, DB12 S and Vantage S Roadster — in the first-floor central hall of Nihombashi Mitsukoshi's main building from 21 to 30 August, the company said in a release on 22 August. The display sits inside the department store's "英国展2026" (UK Exhibition 2026) programme; Nihombashi Mitsukoshi's own store-news page confirms the same dates, venue and models.

The centrepiece is Valhalla, which Aston Martin calls its first plug-in hybrid supercar and describes as the brand's technology flagship. The company gives a combined output of 1,079PS, 1,100Nm of maximum torque, a 0–100km/h time of 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 350km/h. According to Aston Martin Japan, this is the first time Valhalla has gone on public display in Japan outside a dealership or brand centre.

Alongside it sit the DB12 S sports car (700PS, 800Nm) and the Vantage S Roadster, a convertible rated at 680PS and 800Nm whose soft top opens or closes in 6.8 seconds, per the same release.

The central hall is the core space of a main building the Japanese government has designated an important cultural property, and Mitsukoshi has long used it to stage events that have nothing to do with a shopping list. Parking three supercars there is less a sales pitch than a presentation one: nobody buys a Valhalla off a department-store floor, but the pairing puts a low-volume marque in front of shoppers browsing the store's wider UK-themed season, which Mitsukoshi's listing shows running alongside a separate "英国展2026 PART1" section (18–24 August) and a "英国フェア2026" fair (19 August–1 September).

Neither Aston Martin nor Mitsukoshi published pricing or admission details for the display. For a brand that sells in far smaller numbers than the mainstream marques department stores usually partner with, the appeal of a landmark retail hall is straightforward — it reaches people who were never going to walk into a showroom.
