Chaumet opens its largest Kansai boutique in Osaka's Shinsaibashi
Chaumet's largest Kansai boutique, opening 12 September in Osaka's Shinsaibashi district, is built around Japanese-craft fixtures — a wisteria plaster relief and a gold-leaf Osaka Castle panel — rather than a standard flagship template.
Chaumet will open its largest boutique in the Kansai region on 12 September, in the Quartz Shinsaibashi building in Osaka's Shinsaibashi shopping district, according to LVMH Watch & Jewelry Japan, which operates the Paris jewellery maison in Japan.
The two-storey boutique is built around Japanese craft references rather than the maison's standard fit-out, the company said. The ground floor carries a "Tiara Wall" of nickel-silver pieces echoing Chaumet's tiara-making heritage, while the second-floor VIP rooms are finished with a wisteria-flower plaster relief by the Kuzumi family of plastering artisans and an Osaka Castle scene rendered in plaster and gold leaf by the French studio Atelier Patricia de la Tour. To mark the opening, Chaumet is introducing a pink-gold Joséphine collection egret pendant set with an Akoya pearl and diamonds, priced at ¥537,900.
The investment says more about presentation than assortment: exhibition-grade regional craft built into permanent fixtures, rather than a one-off pop-up, is a bet that Osaka's Shinsaibashi will keep pulling luxury spend independent of Tokyo, and that a maison earns a bigger footprint outside Ginza and Omotesando by visibly working with the city it opens in rather than dropping in a standard template.
