Hankyu Umeda hosts golf label OBSIDIAN's first collaboration, with streetwear brand WIND AND SEA
Hankyu Umeda's eighth floor hosts the first collaboration between golf label OBSIDIAN and streetwear brand WIND AND SEA from October 28, with a 30-set advance capsule and a ticketed talk and signing event -- the kind of limited, in-store-only drop department stores lean on to pull premium menswear traffic through the autumn lull.

Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores said its flagship Hankyu Umeda store will host "OBSIDIAN GOES GOLF -- Urban to Green," a pop-up on the eighth floor running from Wednesday, October 28 to Tuesday, November 3, built around the first-ever collaboration item between OBSIDIAN, a golf-wear label, and WIND AND SEA, a streetwear brand, under OBSIDIAN's new "The Blue OBSIDIAN" sports line, according to the store's October 27 release.
The headline item, a windbreaker-jacket, pants and shorts three-piece set priced at 86,900 yen, goes on sale in an advance capsule limited to 30 sets, sold only at Hankyu Umeda, according to the release. Hankyu also lists other OBSIDIAN pieces shown in store, including a 35,200 yen hoodie, a 49,500 yen knit polo and a 72,600 yen puffer vest, several normally sold online only. On November 3, comedian Shuzo Endo of Cocorico -- described by the release as close to the brand since its launch -- appears for a free, reservation-only 30-minute talk, followed by a signing and photo session open to customers who buy an eligible item in store that day, until tickets run out.
A limited, in-store-only capsule -- sold nowhere else, backed by a talk and signing rather than a straight product push -- is the template department stores increasingly reach for in late October and November, a quieter stretch between the autumn new-season rollout and the year-end gift season, to pull premium menswear customers through the door rather than just restock the floor.
