Hermès relocates its Rio de Janeiro store to VillageMall, carrying all 16 métiers
Hermès has moved its Rio de Janeiro store to VillageMall in Barra da Tijuca, built around all 16 of the house's métiers and the city's tropical coastline — the latest in a run of store moves the maison has made worldwide this year as its constant-currency sales, including Japan's, keep climbing.

Hermès has relocated its Rio de Janeiro store to the VillageMall shopping centre in Barra da Tijuca, reopening on 21 August with all 16 of the house's métiers under one roof, according to the company.
The new store, designed by Parisian architecture studio RDAI, wraps its facade in a lattice of locally sourced wood that nods to both the house's Faubourg mosaic pattern and Brazilian cobogó openwork screens, with woven screens over the front windows scattering natural light inside, Hermès said. Its interior moves visitors from the silk, jewellery and perfume counters near the entrance — set on a black-and-white mosaic floor referencing Rio's geometric pavements — through home and menswear, then women's ready-to-wear and shoes beneath leaf-canopy carpets, into an enclosed jewellery and watch room lined in palm-leaf fabric, before finishing at leather goods and equestrian pieces on a mother-of-pearl-flecked teal terrazzo floor. The store also displays artworks from the house's own collections, including a botanical etching by François Houtin and marquetry collages by Anton Laborde.
The Rio relocation is one of several store moves Hermès has made across its network this year: Osaka's Hilton Plaza East store was expanded and renovated in May, a new Nagoya store opened in June, and stores in Hong Kong's Elements mall and Taipei's Sogo Fuxing reopened after renovation in April, alongside new stores in Hanoi and Beijing, the house said in its half-year results. Those moves are coinciding with Hermès's Japan momentum: first-half 2026 revenue there rose 11% at constant exchange rates (though down 2% once a stronger yen is factored in), an acceleration the company attributed to strong traffic and the loyalty of local customers. Group-wide revenue reached €8.16 billion in the same period, up 6.1% at constant exchange rates.
