Hervé Chapelier, the Paris bag brand founded in 1976, is marking its 50th anniversary with a personal-order event and an exclusive tote at Daimaru Sapporo, running Aug. 12 to 18 on the store's third floor, according to a release issued by PR agency Sunny Side Up Inc. on the brand's behalf. At the event, customers can combine their choice of handle and tag colours — including anniversary-only options — to order a personalised bag, with delivery taking about six months.

The event also launches an exclusive tote — model 704CB, a Cordura nylon square tote made in France in a "Fuzzy x Grey x White" colourway — priced at ¥51,480, going on sale simultaneously in-store and online from 10am on Aug. 12, the release said. The pop-up doubles as the Hokkaido debut for Sunny&Co., a separate daily-wear label using fabric from Check & Stripe.

Fifty-year personalisation campaigns are a familiar loyalty play for heritage accessories brands, and running it as a department-store pop-up rather than a permanent boutique keeps the cost of a six-month bespoke queue contained to a single week, while still giving a J. Front Retailing flagship a reason for repeat footfall through the anniversary.
