Adastria opens LAKOLE's largest store yet, 500 tsubo across two floors, at Canal City Hakata

Adastria will open its largest-ever store for lifestyle brand LAKOLE — 500 tsubo spread over two floors of Canal City Hakata — on Sept. 4, folding apparel, lifestyle goods and groceries into one flagship-scale format for the Fukuoka mall.

Adastria will open its largest-ever store for the lifestyle brand LAKOLE at Canal City Hakata in Fukuoka on Sept. 4, the Tokyo-based apparel group said. The store spans 500 tsubo (about 1,650 square metres) across two floors of the mall's East Building — a scale LAKOLE has not reached at any of its existing locations, according to the company.

The second floor will carry women's apparel, lifestyle goods and groceries alongside a dining area, while the third floor holds menswear, lifestyle goods and a dedicated plant corner, Adastria said. LAKOLE, whose stated concept is "making the everyday wonderful," sells apparel alongside home goods and craft items such as Hasami and Arita porcelain and Mino ware, plus regional instant ramen — a mix the company positions as lifestyle retail rather than straight apparel.

The bet is a familiar one for Japanese apparel groups chasing growth outside Tokyo: pairing a flagship-scale format with a mixed-category assortment — food, homeware, craft goods alongside clothing — to draw repeat visits that apparel alone struggles to generate in a major regional mall. Canal City Hakata, one of Fukuoka's busiest shopping and tourism complexes, gives LAKOLE a large, high-footfall stage to test whether that formula scales beyond its smaller existing stores.
