K-fashion label Matin Kim opens its first permanent Kansai store, at Lucua Osaka

Matin Kim, the Korean label MUSINSA JAPAN has been testing in Tokyo and Nagoya, is opening its fourth Japan store — and first permanent Kansai location — inside Lucua Osaka next month, after a pop-up and its Nagoya debut both drew crowds well beyond what a young import label usually manages here.

MUSINSA JAPAN Corporation, the Japan arm of Korean fashion platform Musinsa, will open a Matin Kim store on the sixth floor of Lucua Osaka on 28 August, the company announced. It is the Korean label's fourth store in Japan and its first permanent location in the Kansai region, following two stores in Tokyo and one in Nagoya, which opened on 28 March 2026.

The Osaka store will span roughly 33.8 tsubo, or about 112 square metres, according to the announcement.

MUSINSA JAPAN pointed to two earlier results as the case for going permanent in Kansai: a Matin Kim pop-up at Hankyu Umeda in January 2025 that drew about 9,000 visitors over a single week and generated combined online and in-store sales of more than ¥60m, and the Nagoya store, which the company said passed 70,000 cumulative visitors within its first four months.

The move follows a pattern now familiar from Seoul's fashion export wave: test a flagship department store's foot traffic with a pop-up, prove the numbers, then take a permanent lease inside the same kind of mall rather than opening standalone. For Lucua Osaka, still building out its younger-skewing tenant mix, a fourth Matin Kim store is one more sign that Kansai — not just Tokyo — is now part of the standard rollout map for Korean fashion brands landing in Japan.
