Designer label ànuke makes its Kansai debut at Lucua Osaka

A small Tokyo-designer label landing a floor at one of Osaka's marquee station buildings is a clean read on which homegrown ready-to-wear names Kansai's biggest landlords are willing to back.

LIFE's Inc. will open its ready-to-wear label ànuke's first Kansai store on 17 October at Lucua Osaka, on the third floor of the Umeda station building, the company said. It is ànuke's third directly run store and its first anywhere in the Kansai region.

ànuke was launched in 2024 by designer Hiromi Funabiki, who spent ten years designing for the apparel brand TODAYFUL before starting her own label. The name blends "anu" (unpretentious) and "nuke" (effortless), and the brand describes its aim as clothing that lets the wearer live positively while staying part of daily life. For the opening, LIFE's Inc. will sell discounted two-piece sets on 17 and 18 October — a jacket-and-pants set at ¥36,630 and a jacket-and-one-piece set at ¥35,640 — alongside gifts with purchase tiered from ¥15,000 to ¥45,000.

The bigger signal is what Lucua's leasing choice says about Osaka's station-building floors. Lucua and its neighbours have spent recent seasons using their fashion floors as a proving ground for domestic contemporary labels rather than filling every vacancy with an overseas name, and a designer with a decade at TODAYFUL fits the profile Kansai landlords have been favouring: known enough to carry a floor, small enough to still feel like a discovery.

Whether ànuke's Kansai debut becomes a template turns on repeat traffic once the opening discounts end — the real test of a small label's first station-building floor is never opening week, but the quarter after it.
