Moët Hennessy brings a Dom Pérignon x Damien Hirst limited edition to Japanese department stores
Moët Hennessy's Japan arm has set its own yen prices and its own department-store distribution for a Dom Pérignon x Damien Hirst collaboration — a Japan-specific retail event built for the fine-beverage hall, not global product news arriving as an afterthought.

Moët Hennessy Japan has put a limited-edition Dom Pérignon collaboration with British artist Damien Hirst into department stores nationwide from October 1, priced at ¥45,100 for the vintage 2018 and ¥71,280 for the rosé vintage 2010, the company said in a statement.
The edition reworks Dom Pérignon's historic shield emblem through the kaleidoscopic, fragmented-pattern style of Hirst's "Kaleidoscope" series, rendered in deep blue for the 2018 vintage and warm pink for the rosé. Moët Hennessy Japan described the pairing as reflecting a shared approach between house and artist of finding harmony within complexity. Both bottles are sold in limited quantities through major department stores and through the company's own storefront on Yahoo! Shopping.
The release is a Japan-specific retail event, not global product news reaching the market as an afterthought: Moët Hennessy's Japan subsidiary set its own yen prices and its own department-store distribution, the kind of beauty-and-fine-beverage-hall promotion that drives footfall and big-ticket spend on the floors department stores most want to protect. An artist collaboration at this price point also gives department-store liquor and gift floors something to sell beyond the usual vintage-dated bottle, just as the year-end gifting season — when champagne sales typically peak — comes into view.
Whether the Hirst name pulls in buyers beyond Dom Pérignon's existing collectors is the open question; a limited run gives the house room to test the appetite without committing to a wider release.
