Palace Hotel Tokyo's pastry shop makes its first Kobe appearance at Daimaru
The Tokyo hotel's in-house pastry counter takes basement floor space at Daimaru Kobe for a week from September 16, its first appearance in the city, with a Kobe-only assortment box.
Palace Hotel Tokyo's in-house pastry shop, Sweets & Deli, will open a week-long pop-up on the first basement floor of Daimaru Kobe from September 16 to 22 — its first appearance in the city, according to a statement from J. Front Retailing, which operates the store.
The lineup includes an 11-piece baked-goods tin (¥5,400), a three-flavour cookie tin (¥5,000) and a chestnut cake limited to five a day (¥5,200). The Kobe-exclusive item is a ¥3,500 assortment box limited to 20 a day, combining sandwich cookies, orange cake and butter cookies made specifically for the pop-up, the company said.
A Tokyo hotel's pastry counter taking a week of basement floor space in Kobe is a small but familiar move in department-store food halls, which lean on hotel and restaurant names from outside their home city to refresh the depachika (basement food hall) without a permanent lease. The Kobe-only box gives Daimaru a reason to promote the visit as more than a straight import of the Tokyo lineup.
