World Co.'s RAGTAG opens its first Hong Kong store, its fourth Asian market

World Co.'s used-luxury chain RAGTAG has opened in Causeway Bay, its fourth Asian market in just over a year — betting on Hong Kong shoppers who already know the brand from trips to Japan.

World Co.'s used-luxury reseller RAGTAG has opened its first store in Hong Kong, the Kobe-based company said, taking the brand into a fourth overseas market in just over a year.

The store opened on July 31 on the third floor of Hysan Place in Causeway Bay, directly connected to the MTR station, according to World Co. At roughly 170 square metres (about 51 tsubo), it is run by the group's reuse subsidiary Tin Pan Alley and both sells and buys designer and luxury goods on site, the company said — the same sell-and-buy format RAGTAG uses domestically to keep stock circulating rather than simply selling down inventory.

Hong Kong is RAGTAG's fourth Asian market in just over a year. World Co. opened four RAGTAG stores in Thailand in July 2025 and one in Taiwan that November; a Malaysia store followed in June this year, though under a different name, usebowl, rather than RAGTAG. The company set up a Hong Kong subsidiary in December 2025 to speed the push, organised around three pillars it calls brands, circular economy and wholesale, World Co. said.

The pitch, per the company, leans on Hong Kong shoppers' existing familiarity with RAGTAG from trips to Japan — reuse retail travels well when the destination's own tourists already know the shelves. That also explains the buy-back counter: a resale chain expanding abroad needs local supply as much as local demand, and sourcing secondhand luxury goods in the market where it sells them is cheaper than shipping inventory from Japan. Whether Hong Kong's tighter, pricier retail floors support the pace RAGTAG has kept in Thailand, or whether World Co. slows down here as it did between Thailand and Taiwan, is the next thing to watch.
