Takashimaya's Shinjuku flagship marks 30 years with an 80-vendor Hokkaido food fair
Shinjuku Takashimaya marks its 30th year with an 80-vendor Hokkaido food fair through November 3, pairing two anniversary-only, daily-capped dishes with named local producers -- a routine format whose reliable repetition, not its size, is what keeps a flagship food hall drawing footfall.

Takashimaya said its Shinjuku flagship will mark the store's 30th anniversary with a two-week "Great Hokkaido Exhibition," running October 21 to November 3 in the 11th-floor event hall, with about 80 vendors taking part, according to a release dated October 20.
This year's fair is built around corn and scallops, the ingredients Takashimaya's own Hokkaido-based buyers chose to feature, spanning ramen, seafood and meat bento, sweets and bread. Two anniversary-only pairings run on a daily cap: a scallop-and-crab rice bowl topped with frozen raw sea urchin, from Sarufutsu Marugoto-kan and Hakodate's Uni Murakami, priced at ¥4,510 and limited to 20 servings a day from October 21-27; and a lamb yakiniku burger with mixed cheese, from Asahikawa's Genghis Khan Daikokuya and Cheese Kobo Adonai, at ¥1,300 and capped at 30 a day from October 28 to November 3.
An 80-vendor Hokkaido fair is a format department stores across Tokyo run most autumns; what marks this edition is the anniversary framing and the daily-capped collaboration dishes, not a change in scale. For a flagship food hall, that kind of reliably repeatable event, rather than a one-off, is the steadier draw into the year-end gifting season.
