UGG names IVE's Wonyoung its new Asia-Pacific ambassador, backed by a Shibuya-Harajuku ad blitz
Deckers Japan has put a K-pop idol at the centre of UGG's newest global platform, then backed the choice with paid out-of-home across Shibuya and Harajuku rather than a store event — a bet that visibility, not experience, will move the brand's Japan customer this winter.

Deckers Japan named Wonyoung, a member of the K-pop group IVE, as UGG's new Asia-Pacific brand ambassador on 17 September, fronting the regional launch of "Born to Feel," a platform built around the line that true comfort is born when you can be yourself, according to the company's own release.
The Japan push is built on paid outdoor advertising rather than any store event: from 21 to 27 September the campaign runs across five sites in Shibuya and Harajuku — Laforet Harajuku, the Tower Records board and West Exit Vision in Shibuya, and the Shueisha and Cylinder Side visions near Shibuya Modi and Shibuya 109 — alongside UGG's website, social channels and retail stores, the company said. Three product lines anchor the campaign: the Enwrap Clog, the boot-styled Classic Mini Enwrap, and a Classic Mini Heritage finished in sheepskin and corduroy with a boot-shaped keychain charm.
The choice is Promotion, not distribution: Deckers runs UGG in Japan directly through its own entity rather than solely via a local licensee, so an ambassador fee and a week of premium Shibuya and Harajuku screen time fall straight onto a business Deckers itself owns and reports. Handing the campaign to a single APAC-wide face, rather than casting separately for Japan, also argues Deckers wants one cultural story to carry across the region's malls and department-store footwear floors — where UGG's comfort-shoe category already sells through well — instead of paying to localise the message market by market.
