Aeon runs a five-day Italian fair across roughly 3,700 stores

Aeon is running a nationwide Italian-themed fair across roughly 3,700 stores run by 13 group banners from October 30 to November 3 -- a scale of promotional reach only Japan's largest retail group can put behind a single imported-goods push.

Aeon said it will run an Italian-themed fair, "Aeon Italia Fair," for five days from Friday, October 30 to Tuesday, November 3 -- a public holiday -- across roughly 3,700 stores operated by 13 companies within the Aeon group, including the Aeon, Aeon Style and MaxValu banners, according to the company's October 26 release.

The release gives the event's scope -- the banners, the store count and the dates -- but does not itemise which Italian products will be featured; Aeon did not break out category-level detail in the announcement.

A themed fair run across close to 3,700 stores at once depends on coordinating that many banners under one group umbrella -- a reach most Japanese grocery operators, running far fewer stores, cannot match.
