Aeon turns 570 stores into a ten-day parenting showcase, its first fair of the kind
Aeon is running its first-ever nationwide parenting fair across 14 group companies and roughly 570 stores, pairing 26 manufacturer partners' products with stroller trials, safety demonstrations and a pilot baby-goods vending machine — a bet that its retail floor, not just its shelves, is what keeps time-pressed families coming back.

Aeon said it will hold "子育てフェア~共育(ともいく)~" ("Parenting Fair — kyoiku," a coined term pairing child-rearing with mutual growth), the first fair of its kind for the group, across 14 group companies and roughly 570 stores including its namesake Aeon and Aeon Style banners, running from September 25 to October 4, according to a company release.
Aeon cited the rise of dual-income households and demand for help with the daily logistics of raising small children — meals, laundry, transport, giving children new experiences — as the reason for the fair, which it organised together with 26 manufacturer partners spanning household, personal-care and food brands, including Kao, Shiseido Japan, Combi, Takara Tomy, P&G Japan and Unicharm on the non-food side and Ajinomoto, Kagome, Kirin Beverage, Suntory and Morinaga Milk among the food makers, the company said. The fair groups as many as roughly 480 products under three themes Aeon calls taipa (time-performance), safety and reassurance, and care for parents' physical and mental fatigue.
Six stores get hands-on events
At six stores nationwide — Aeon Sapporo Naebo, Aeon Style Itami Konya, Aeon Style Sendai Uesugi, Aeon Fukuoka, Aeon Style Lake Town and Aeon Haebaru in Okinawa — Aeon and its partners are staging consumer-facing events from September 25 to 27 (Sendai's running October 2 to 4 instead), the company said. Examples it gave include a stroller test-ride and child-seat fitting demonstration run by Combi, a hands-on toy and sampling corner from Takara Tomy, a vegetable-themed quiz rally from Kagome, and a tasting event for Aeon's own Topvalu "fun fun smile" baby-food line.
A vending machine and a cinema debut
Aeon is also piloting what it calls a "parenting-support vending machine," stocked with diapers, wipes, baby food and snacks for families out with a small child; it is installing three units at Aeon Lake Town mori, its first such rollout anywhere, paired with a stamp rally during the September 25-27 event window, the company said. Elsewhere in the group, Aeon Entertainment is running "cinema debut" screenings that keep houselights less dim and sound turned down so babies can attend without disturbing other patrons, Aeon Fantasy is expanding its "Nobikko Jumbo" pay-once, play-all-day indoor playgrounds and its "Smile Inclusive Day" sessions for children with developmental or intellectual disabilities, and Mirai-ya Shoten bookstores are running a children's book corner and a weekend picture-book reading livestream.
The fair is less a promotion than an attempt to make Aeon's floor space itself a reason to keep showing up: bundling manufacturer sampling, safety demonstrations and family amenities under one campaign banner gives time-pressed parents a low-stakes place to try a stroller or a child seat before buying, something neither a baby-goods specialist nor an online retailer can easily replicate. That the vending-machine trial and the consumer-facing events are concentrated at a handful of flagship sites, rather than spread evenly across all 570 stores, suggests Aeon is testing the format before committing capital to a nationwide rollout — and the group's decision to run its first fair of this kind now says as much about the competitive pressure to hold on to young families as an anchor for repeat visits.
