BEAMS marks CULTUART Takanawa's first year with a secret rooftop show and a preview of its 50th-anniversary DJ set
BEAMS is marking the first birthday of its only standalone CULTUART store with a free, unticketed show on a rooftop garden roughly 150 metres above Takanawa, and using the night to preview the limited hardware it will carry into its own 50th anniversary — a single store's anniversary doing double duty as a brand-wide stage.
BEAMS marked the approaching first anniversary of BEAMS CULTUART TAKANAWA — the company's only standalone CULTUART store, inside JR East's NEWoMan Takanawa development, which opened 12 September 2025 — with a rooftop live event set for 25 September, according to an 18 September release from BEAMS. Doors at LUFTBAUM, the building's 28th-floor aerial garden roughly 150 metres up, open at 18:00, with the show running 19:00 to 22:00.
The line-up is billed only as "special secret artists," curated by Andless, the release said. Admission is free and BEAMS said no tickets will be distributed, though entry may be restricted if the venue fills; on-site merchandise sales, including a ¥14,300 Andless x BEAMS CULTUART sweatshirt, are cashless only.
The show doubles as an early look at hardware tied to a separate milestone: BEAMS, which marks 50 years since its founding this year, will preview a 50-unit limited edition of the AlphaTheta x BEAMS XDJ-AZ DJ system at the event ahead of a scheduled January 2027 release, according to the release.
The mechanics matter as much as the music. BEAMS is using a single-store anniversary to preview hardware for its company-wide 50th, borrowing national reach for what is, on paper, one tenant's birthday party — and it is a rare instance of NEWoMan Takanawa's rooftop being handed to a retail tenant rather than the building's own food-and-beverage operators, a sign JR East is willing to lend its newest development's most distinctive asset to draw a crowd to a project barely a year into trading.
