Clarks opens its first Saitama store — and its first ever inside a Lalaport mall — at Lalaport Fujimi
British footwear brand Clarks opens its first Saitama store, and its first inside a Lalaport mall, at Lalaport Fujimi on October 16 — a concrete marker of where an international footwear brand is adding floor space in Japan's suburban mall network.

Clarks Japan will open a new store at Lalaport Fujimi on October 16 — the British footwear brand's first location in Saitama Prefecture and its first inside a Mitsui Fudosan Lalaport centre, according to the company's October 9 release.
The roughly 93-square-metre store, on Lalaport Fujimi's second floor, carries more than 130 styles for men and women, spanning icon models, the newest collections and newly added apparel, accessories and jewellery, Clarks Japan said. It is also the third Japanese store to use a store design the brand introduced this year, which trades the previous green-and-warm-wood look for stainless-steel tones and grey, after locations in Kashiwa and at Sendai Parco.
Clarks, founded in Street, Somerset, in 1825 and now trading in more than 100 markets, is one of several international footwear names recalibrating where in Japan they put new floor space. A first entry into the Lalaport network — built on suburban family traffic rather than the fashion-building addresses Clarks has favoured until now — is as much a bet on format as on geography, and one it is testing store by store with the new design rather than rolling out all at once.
