Coach takes a New York-themed pop-up to Matsuya Ginza through August
Coach has opened a New York-themed pop-up on Matsuya Ginza's first floor through 18 August, using a new regenerative-cotton Tabby bag and its dinosaur mascot Lexie to hold ground in Ginza's crowded luxury corridor without a full store refresh.

Coach has opened a New York-themed pop-up on the first floor of Matsuya Ginza, its Japan operator Tapestry Japan LLC said in a release dated 24 July, running through 18 August at the department store's Space of Ginza event area.
The space is styled around New York's "Big Apple" imagery, including yellow-cab motifs, according to the release, with the brand's dinosaur mascot Lexie greeting visitors on site. Coach used the run to introduce a new colourway of its Tabby Shoulder Bag 26, made from what it calls regenerative-cotton denim, priced at ¥110,000 and finished with crystal embellishments that reference the bag's 1970s design origins in the Coach archive. Two existing Tabby styles are also on sale: a rubbed-leather Tabby Shoulder Bag 36 at ¥88,000, sized to fit an iPad mini and a long wallet, and a red leather Tabby Shoulder Bag 26, also ¥88,000. On weekdays, Coach is running a workshop where visitors customise notebooks, which the brand ties to its "Courage to Be Real" positioning.
It is a modest, low-capital way for Coach to hold ground in one of Ginza's most contested luxury corridors between full-scale store refreshes, letting Promotion and Presentation do the work a new lease would otherwise have to. Putting a regenerative-cotton bag at the top of this capsule's price ladder also lets Coach flag a sustainability claim without pushing the range out of the accessible-luxury pricing it has built its Japan business on.
