Dior opens a new Nihonbashi Takashimaya boutique built to echo its Paris flagship
Dior has opened a new boutique on Nihonbashi Takashimaya's first floor, carrying Jonathan Anderson's first fall/winter collection since unifying the maison's design direction — the latest sign that Tokyo's biggest department stores, not standalone flagships, are where Paris houses are putting their newest looks first.

Dior has opened a new boutique on the first floor of Nihonbashi Takashimaya, according to a release from Christian Dior Japan LLC. The store opened on 2 September in the department store's Chuo ward building.
The company said the design reinterprets details from its Avenue Montaigne flagship in Paris: a white-marble facade carrying a reworked version of the house's quilted cannage pattern, windows built with a transparent, gold-accented filtering effect, and Versailles-pattern parquet flooring. Custom mirrors made by SUMPHAT Design Studio combine traditional craftsmanship with botanical motifs that recur through the space, the release said.
The boutique carries handbags, shoes, fine jewelry and timepieces from Dior's Fall/Winter 2026-27 collection — the first under Jonathan Anderson since he was named to unify the house's design direction across categories, according to the release.
The choice matters because Nihonbashi's big department stores have spent recent years working to hold their own against Ginza's and Omotesando's standalone maison boutiques for the same inbound spend. Recreating Paris-grade materials and craftsmanship inside a shop-in-shop, rather than a standard concession fit-out, is one of Dior's clearest signals yet that it sees department-store floor space in Tokyo as worth flagship-level investment.
