Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens tororo specialist adds a summer yangnyeom-cheese karaage bowl
The natural-yam tororo specialist inside Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens is adding a summer-only bowl that pairs its usual rice-and-yam base with sweet-and-spicy yangnyeom sauce, melted cheese and a karaage that has already won a national fried-chicken competition.

Potomac Corporation's tororo-rice specialty shop, trading as 黒十ヤ inside Hankyu Nishinomiya Gardens' first-floor Gardens Kitchen food hall, is adding a summer-only bowl called the umami karaage yangnyeom cheese don, according to a company release. The dish combines the shop's usual natural yam (jinenjo) tororo-and-rice base with a sweet-and-spicy yangnyeom sauce, melted cheese and karaage fried chicken, and is priced at ¥1,250 including tax.
The karaage used in the dish previously won a gold award at the Karaage Grand Prix, a national fried-chicken competition, the company said. The bowl runs alongside the shop's existing menu, which includes a standard umami karaage don and a salmon-and-avocado tororo bowl.
It is a small seasonal addition, not a repositioning — but pairing a Korean-style sweet-and-spicy sauce with a jinenjo tororo bowl, a resolutely Japanese comfort dish, is a fair snapshot of how far Korean flavour cues have worked into mainstream mall food halls, tororo included.
