Hermès reopens its renovated Kaohsiung boutique, marking 30 years in southern Taiwan
Hermès has reopened its renovated and expanded Kaohsiung boutique, the maison's only site in southern Taiwan since 1996, now spread across two floors designed by Paris-based RDAI — a quiet but telling investment in Hermès's Asia-Pacific store network beyond Japan.

Hermès reopened its renovated and expanded boutique in Kaohsiung's Hanshin mall on 5 August 2026, the maison said in a statement, marking 30 years since the store first opened in the southern Taiwanese port city in 1996. The boutique is now spread across two floors, designed by the Paris-based architecture practice RDAI around the colours and textures of Kaohsiung's waterfront.
According to the release, brick coursing runs across the store's exterior and interior facades, its alternating relief casting shadow patterns that put the new build in dialogue with the port city's older architecture. The ground floor opens onto silk and fashion accessories in rust tones before leading past leather goods set off by sculpted wood partitions and a naturally lit jewellery and watch corner; an oak staircase, its grain inspired by shipping containers, connects down to the lower level.
Downstairs, the palette shifts to navy and earth tones over natural mineral surfaces: women's ready-to-wear and shoes to one side, men's collections, home objects and equestrian goods to the other, with carpets patterned after a boat's wake. The renovation is a modest move next to Hermès's own recent disclosure that Japan sales accelerated to double-digit growth in the first half of 2026, but it points the same way: the maison is still willing to fund a full rebuild of a three-decade-old store in a secondary Asian market, not only its headline ones.
