Hyatt Centric Sapporo opens, the brand's first in Hokkaido
Hyatt's lifestyle brand Centric makes its Hokkaido debut with a 216-room hotel in the heart of Sapporo, beside the Red Brick Building and a short walk from Odori Park — a city-centre bet on Sapporo's growing branded-hotel stock as the region leans further into inbound tourism.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation said Hyatt Centric Sapporo, the lifestyle brand's first property in Hokkaido, opened on October 3 on the upper floors of a mixed-use tower in central Sapporo, beside the Red Brick Building and within walking distance of Odori Park.
The 216-room hotel has rooms and suites starting at 36 square metres, and sits a few minutes from Odori subway station via an underground walkway and about a ten-minute walk from JR Sapporo Station, according to Hyatt. Its design takes its theme from Takeshiro Matsuura, the Edo-era explorer and cartographer credited with naming Hokkaido, framed as a "Northern Explorer's Residence" with reclaimed wood, artisanal detailing and a fireplace lounge.
Food and drink carries the same local framing: Matsu Grill & Bar, on the 17th floor, serves wood-fired, Mediterranean-style dishes built around Hokkaido seafood and produce with panoramic city views, while Mr Fish by Hyatt Centric Sapporo, a casual counter on the ground floor, serves fish and chips made with seasonal local white fish and Hokkaido-grown potatoes. "Placing you in the middle of the action, Hyatt Centric Sapporo is designed to be an ideal starting point for exploration," general manager Yuki Takimura said.
Hyatt is running an opening offer for stays through December 31, bookable by October 31: 15 per cent off (17 per cent for World of Hyatt members), daily breakfast, a ¥3,000 credit per room per stay and double points. The opening marks Centric's first arrival in Hokkaido and places Hyatt's urban-lifestyle brand in a city still building out its branded-hotel stock ahead of the region's next wave of inbound visitors — a bet that a lifestyle hotel steps from Sapporo's primary retail and sightseeing corridor can draw travellers beyond the standard business-hotel supply that dominates the city centre.
