A Tokyo restaurant group books a heritage-building dinner into Kyoto's architecture festival
Kiwa Corporation is entering two of its Kyoto restaurants, including a ¥18,000 ticketed dinner inside a former kimono merchant's Western-style annex, into the citywide 2026 Kyoto Modern Architecture Festival — a small case of a Tokyo F&B operator leaning on Kyoto's historic property stock to drive calendar-based demand.

Kiwa Corporation, the Tokyo-based restaurant operator, will enter two of its Kyoto brands — Zenjokan Pocchiri and Daiden Meimei — into the 2026 Kyoto Modern Architecture Festival, which runs 31 October–1 November and 7–8 November, the company said.
Zenjokan Pocchiri is hosting a ticketed event on 1 November, from 4pm to 7pm, combining a guided tour of the building — led by an instructor the company identifies as Maeda — with a dinner course, priced at ¥18,000 per person and capped at 15 guests, according to Kiwa Corporation. The venue is a large, Western-annexed machiya (traditional townhouse) the company describes as once belonging to a kimono merchant. Bookings close on 30 September at 6pm, and festival visitors can also use a passport system for discounts across participating venues, the company said.
Kyoto's festival calendar has become one of the city's more reliable demand drivers outside the main tourist seasons, and for an F&B operator, joining it costs little beyond staff time on the day — a bet that the return, in bookings and brand exposure, outweighs the effort of a single ¥18,000 seating for fifteen.
