Paris label Martin Martin makes its Japan debut with an Isetan Shinjuku pop-up

Paris label Martin Martin makes its Japan debut with a two-week Isetan Shinjuku pop-up, which its distributor calls the first step in a "full-scale" push into the market.

DIGA Corporation, the Japan distributor for Paris-based label Martin Martin, said the brand will hold its first pop-up in the country at Isetan Shinjuku's Main Building, running September 16 to 29 on the third floor's contemporary and promotion section.

Martin Martin was founded in 2019 by designer Capucine Martin and builds its identity around a gold shell button the label traces to one found on her grandmother's jacket, according to DIGA. The pop-up will carry the brand's range, including a jersey jacket at ¥124,300, dresses spanning ¥82,500 to ¥128,700, and trousers at ¥69,300.

DIGA billed the run as the label's first pop-up in Japan and described it as the opening move in a "full-scale" expansion here, though it gave no detail on what follows.

Isetan Shinjuku's third-floor contemporary section has long served as the store's proving ground for import labels — a short, low-commitment run that either builds a case for a permanent corner or quietly ends after two weeks. Where Martin Martin lands after September 29 will say more about its Japan prospects than the pop-up itself.
