K-beauty pop-up format SEONGSU JAPAN makes its third Japan stop, at Yurakucho Marui

A touring pop-up built around emerging Korean beauty brands not yet on Japanese shelves has landed at Yurakucho Marui for two weeks, its third Japan stop after Shibuya and Fukuoka, testing demand ahead of any bid for a permanent counter.

KITERU LLC said it will run "SEONGSU JAPAN YURAKUCHO 2026," a pop-up event gathering emerging and unreleased Korean cosmetics brands from Seoul's Seongsu district, at Yurakucho Marui in Tokyo from 7 to 20 September, across the building's first and third floors. It is the third Japan venue for the touring format, according to the organiser, following a run in Shibuya in July and one at Hakata Marui in Fukuoka in August and September.

The event, open 11:00 to 20:00 daily, includes tasting experiences for the featured cosmetics, a "scooping" sampling game that requires advance registration, on-site sales at event-exclusive pricing, and makeup sessions by Korean makeup artists offering both "idol" and "actress" styling, plus photo spots designed to recreate the atmosphere of Seongsu, the organiser said. Specific product pricing was not disclosed in the announcement.

A touring pop-up, rather than a wholesale listing or a beauty specialist's shelf, is how much of K-beauty's newer wave has been testing Japan: it puts an unfamiliar brand in front of walk-in traffic at a mainstream retail floor, with none of the commitment a permanent counter requires. Landing a third stop, and at a mall rather than a department store, suggests the format is finding an audience on its own terms before any brand featured makes the case for standing floor space.
