UGG and JW Anderson's first collaboration launches in Japan through three directly run stores

UGG and JW Anderson's debut collaboration -- a Loafer Boot and Loafer reworking the Classic Boot and Tasman -- launches October 15 through UGG's three directly operated Japan stores and its own Japan product page, a Japan-dated release rather than a global drop landing here incidentally.

UGG Japan, the Japan arm of Deckers Brands' UGG, said in a release published October 12 through PR TIMES that UGG and JW Anderson, the London fashion house founded by Jonathan Anderson in 2008, are releasing their first joint collection. The two pieces, the UGG JW Anderson Loafer Boot and UGG JW Anderson Loafer, rework UGG's Classic Boot and Tasman silhouettes into a loafer-inspired structure, with a rounded toe and box stitching, while keeping UGG's own materials and cushioning, the companies said. Anderson chose the collection's three colourways -- chestnut, khaki and orange -- and the line is described as an all-gender collection.

The companies said the campaign, styled by Jonathan Anderson and shot by Zhenya and Tanya Posternak, features musician and producer Dev Hynes, known as Blood Orange, in everyday domestic scenes -- changing, moving between rooms, going out and coming home -- and will roll out in phases through the season.

The collection goes on sale in Japan on Thursday, October 15, through UGG's three directly operated stores -- its Tokyo flagship, its store on Ginza's Matsuya-dori, and its Osaka store -- the release said, with the Japan product page on UGG's official site (ugg.com/jp/jw-anderson) set to go live two days earlier, at 10am on October 13. Internationally, the collection is also sold through JWANDERSON.com and select stores worldwide.

What stands out is the Japan framing. According to the release, UGG's three directly run Japan doors sell the line on the same day as the worldwide release, and a Japan-specific product page goes up two days earlier -- a launch the Japan arm has scheduled for its own customers rather than a global drop that happens to arrive here. Selling only through its own stores and site on day one keeps the line away from third-party floors for now; the release names no wholesale or department-store partners in Japan.
