A Hokkaido Okhotsk producer fair returns to Tokyu's Futako-Tamagawa food hall for a second year

The Okhotsk Foundation, a public-interest incorporated foundation representing 18 municipalities in Hokkaido's Okhotsk region, will hold "Hokkaido Okhotsk Shopping Street 2026" from 17 to 23 September at the Futako-Tamagawa Tokyu Food Show, the basement food hall of Tokyu Department Store's Futako-Tamagawa Rise site, according to a release issued by Maruya, which runs the event's planning and operations on the foundation's behalf.

Twenty-two businesses from the Okhotsk region will sell food and produce at the fair, running 10am to 8pm daily, the release said. It is the second edition of a project the foundation launched in 2025.

Okhotsk sits far enough from Tokyo, and far enough even from Sapporo, that most of its food producers have no realistic path to a standing Tokyo counter; a week-long fair inside a well-trafficked food hall is closer to what regional Japan actually has access to than a permanent shelf ever would be. Repeating it for a second year, rather than treating it as a one-off, is the detail worth noting here: it suggests the first outing did well enough to be worth the fixed cost of shipping 22 producers' worth of stock to Setagaya again.
